What this site collects
This website does not use analytics, advertising or tracking of any kind, and sets no cookies. Personal data reaches us in two ways.
The contact form
When you send the form on the contact page, we receive the name, email address, subject and message you enter. We use them only to read and answer your enquiry, and to keep a record of the correspondence that follows from it.
Server logs
Netlify, which hosts the site, records technical data each time a page is requested: IP address, time, the page requested, and the browser and operating system reported. This is created automatically by the web server, is needed to deliver the site and keep it secure, and is not used to identify visitors.
Why we may process it
Under Swiss data protection law, processing personal data is lawful unless it breaches a data subject's personality rights. We process the data above to answer enquiries, to operate and secure the website, and to meet legal retention obligations. Where consent is required, it is given by choosing to send the form, and may be withdrawn at any time by writing to the address above.
Who else sees it
We do not sell personal data and do not pass it to third parties for their own purposes. These service providers process data on our behalf in order for the site to work:
- Netlify (Netlify, Inc., United States) hosts the website, generates the server logs described above, and receives the contact form. Submissions are held in our account there and forwarded to us by email.
- Microsoft provides the mailbox the enquiries arrive in, so the content of a message and the address it was sent from are stored there.
- Google Fonts serves the two typefaces this site uses. Your browser requests them from Google's servers, which means your IP address is transmitted to Google.
Choosing a time in the booking section sends nothing anywhere: it opens an email in your own mail program, which you send yourself.
Transfers abroad
Some of these providers are established outside Switzerland, including in the United States. Where personal data is transferred to a country whose legislation does not ensure an adequate level of protection, the transfer is based on the safeguards the FADP permits, in particular the standard contractual clauses recognised by the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner.
How long it is kept
Enquiries and the correspondence arising from them are kept for as long as needed to deal with the matter, and afterwards for as long as statutory retention periods require. Server logs are kept for the period set by the hosting provider, typically a few weeks. Data that is no longer needed is deleted.
Your rights
You may ask what personal data we hold about you, and ask for it to be corrected, deleted or its processing restricted. You may object to processing, and ask to receive the data you have given us in a commonly used electronic format. Write to the address above; we may ask you to confirm your identity before answering.
If you believe your data has been handled unlawfully, you may lodge a report with the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC), Feldeggweg 1, 3003 Bern.
Security
The site is served over an encrypted connection, and we take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against loss and unauthorised access. No transmission over the internet can be guaranteed completely secure.
Changes
This policy may be updated as the site or the services behind it change. The version published here is the one that applies, and carries the date it was last revised.
